The Virtue Story

Ministry school was given to them as a gift and became the backdrop for the inspiration that would lead to a new kind of ministry based on a long neglected element of Christian worship, within Protestant denominations . . . fragrance.<

With a combined experience of 40 years in fragrance manufacturing, Rick Larimore & Vicki Pratt were in ministry school with a unique set of talents for the Holy Spirit to draw on. Originally, Virtue® was an inspiration passed as a note in one of the classes. “What does the Bible say about perfume? What do you think of a fragrance to remind you of God, as you go through the day?”, asked Vicki of Rick.

That kind of inspiration would typically be rejected by most Christians of mainstream protestant denominations, because of the Biblical admonition not to wear the Holy Incense as a personal adornment. It was suppose to only be associated with God. Ms. Pratt with very little formal Christian background, prior to ministry school, was oblivious to this Godly edict.

It figures that the Holy Spirit would find a Christian innocent, unfamiliar with Biblical scriptures, but possessing an open heart to receive, unfettered by scripture. Not only open of heart, but possessed of talents and partnered with someone with spiritual gifts and a knowledge of the scriptures, as well as technical knowledge regarding fragrance. Her openness to inspiration would repeatedly bring essential elements to the formulating and finishing of the fragrance.

When they started Virtue® there was no IBI. They were just two individuals, who had a dream to make a difference in the world they served. How could they make a dream a reality and have it be truly Inspired? Truly in service to their intent to create a fragrance that would serve a Spiritual purpose. To truly serve the Spiritual side of humanity. The key... was the fragrance. And the key to the proper fragrance was going to the Holy Spirit, Itself.

To help with the focus, we drew on the Spiritual roots that they had grown-up with. They turned to the Bible and let Spirit guide them through the process of picking and choosing the right elements to include in the fragrance. This included allowing apparent set backs to be a source of guidance and inspiration.

Virtue® wasn't even their first choice as a name. They learned their initial preference was taken by a major corporation. Although it looked like it might be coming available in less than a year, they had to decide if they would wait and see. They made a list of names and prayed for guidance. Virtue kept standing out. So, on Virtue they settled. They had no idea what they had chosen.

A year later, while doing some research on the name, Rick became aware that Virtue was actually associate with fragrance & God the world over. In practically all religions and Spiritual practices, persons of high Spiritual attainment or are close to God have a tendency to give off a fragrance, attributed to their “Virtue.” Many of the Saints, and numerous others with highly developed spirituality, are, historically, known to have given off such a fragrance. In all cases, in all religions, in all spiritual disciplines it is attributable to their . . . virtue.

They truly felt guided. That Spirit, through their Intent & Faith, had led them to the very name that embodied their intent. They were creating a fragrance to remind one of the God within and their Spiritual Self, when those close to God or their Spiritual Self are known to give off a fragrance. In other words, they were creating a fragrance to lead people to their own Virtue, the Heart of Hearts, in us all. That formless part of ourselves, to identify with our Spirit. The very thing that links us all . . .

"ALL" to the ALL.

. . . the Eternal, Omniscient, Universal, Christ centered, Godly Presence, that resides at the Heart of each of us. Through this identification, “Be in the world and not of it.” Such a commitment was not without its challenges. Many of those around them wanted the couple to develop their fragrance base on the 3 second rule; try to grab a potential customer's nose and turn their attention in the first 3 seconds of exposure. Such a bending to the normal process would have only produced an ordinary fragrance. They refused, repeatedly, as they struggle to bring the fragrance to completion. To get it right.

What was right? When the Spirit let them know, through both, an inner knowing and outer worldly confirmation. The worldly confirmation was a process of holding to their Inspirations, even when their "deadlines" were not met. Holding their Faith, when money and circumstances were not always in alignment with their intent to move ahead. Even, when their suppliers delayed them by either internal practices or personal bias. And, still have everything sustained and developed beyond their expectations in some of the most surprising of ways..

For 8 years, they have kept their Intent & Faith intact to bring you Virtue, the perfume. May you enjoy it's unique fragrance. Hold it in Sacred regard as a means to train yourself to readily contact your Spiritual Self and it will serve both your worldly fragrance needs and provide a means of focusing your Spiritual Intent.

May Virtue® lead you to your Virtue; and fulfill Rick & Vicki’s Intent to remind you to take time for God, your spiritual life and . . .

BE . . . A Blessing to One and ALL.

IBI ~ helping to bring Heaven to Earth through fragrance. This is our calling and our ministry to the world. To assist in bringing Heaven to Earth in our hearts and to KNOW the Love, Power & Presence of God, so that we can partake of & share the Christ within, Being in the world, but not of it . . . by drawing our identity from the formless God within and not from the things of this world.

Virtue: The LOGO

Welcome to the Virtue® Logo web page. This page is for those of you, who have wondered about our logo and how it was created and if it has any meaning. We accept this curiosity with welcome arms, as a perfect opportunity to illustrate one of the many ways of how the “Be Inspired" process works. Some of you may find this rudimentary, but it isn’t the details, it’s the “spirit?that really needs to be captured here. A few moments of consideration of how we created this logo and a review of the history of the fragrance will give you a cross section of experience, that, together, give a synergy to be drawn from for your own inspirational process.

We needed a logo. We had a fragrance, we were still working on, and a logo to represent the fragrance and the concept, seemed timely. Our "intent" was to create a fragrance that would remind a person of God, their Spiritual or Christ Self. It doesn’t matter what you call this formless part of yourself, it is the reality and "Presence" of IT, that we were seeking to reinforce in the lives of the fragrance users. To enhance their ability to Be aware of that state of consciousness at any given moment, instantaneously. What would the Logo that would represent such an experience look like?

The Inspiration for the logo would follow the same process, we were using for the fragrance. Letting ourselves be guided inspirationally seemed to be the most prudent course of action. Knowing our Intention for the fragrance made it a simple process for the Logo. You simply take the intent to the Still Presence, within, knowing that it will provide, and begin.

The first thing that came was to make an ellipse or oval. Then, drew another. And, another. And, kept drawing them, until a feeling of satisfaction was present. Stopping, we had a grouping of intersecting ovals. The inspiration was to begin shading in areas where they over lapped, in playful spirit, like one would do in a coloring book. What emerged was the Logo, you now see on the bottle. The creative process stopped when a feeling Satisfied was present. How well did it work? Let’s see.

The first thing one noticed is there is a "V", maybe it stands for "Virtue®" or, maybe "Virtue" or both. In the middle of the "V" something is emerging. A flower, a lily, a symbol of Virtue. A trumpet heralding a new emergence of Self was coming from the "V", virtue.

The first thing that most people see is a Fleur de Lys. This aspect brings home an element in the fragrance itself, an Iris, the flower that lends it structure to the Fleur de Lys, a symbol associated with both Marys, Mother Mary & Mary Magdalene, as well as Royalty. Iris is actually in the fragrance. The iris symbolizes purity and the rainbow, long a symbol of the covenant between God and Man. The Mary's are both held, in most circles, as symbols of Virtue, personified.

One of the more common allusions drawn from the Virtue® symbol is that the 2 ends of the “V" look like the heads of two swans, with a lily between them. Swans and lilies are both long associated as symbols of virtue.

Some see a dove descending, a sign of the Holy Spirit. Others see a stylized cross with a halo crowning the center. Yet, some see the 3 in 1 as a symbol of the Holy Trinity.

Whatever your personal take on this Logo, you have to admit, a lot of symbolism has dove tailed(no pun intended) into this one symbol for Virtue® that compliments the original intent and prayers of it’s creators. None, the least of which, was the inspiring influence of the Holy Spirit. Much can be said for the Inspirational process. that can bring so much into a simple logo for a perfume. Divine guidance, indeed.
